The Fall River Valley

The Fall River Valley offers visitors endless opportunities for recreation, relaxation and some old-fashioned rural goodness. Photographers enjoy miles of brilliant colors by capturing the beauty of wildflowers in spring time or the vivid colors of fall.
Abundant Wild Life

The Intermountain Area is world renowned for its numerous blue ribbon fishing streams and rivers. Fall River, Pit River and Hat Creek are all clear spring-fed waters with consistent cold water temperatures. These conditions help provide some of the best fishing in the west. The Forest Service offers six campgrounds that are located adjacent to Hat Creek. Besides the plentiful fishing and hunting, "birdwatchers" can view a variety of birds and waterfowl. Many varieties of upland game birds use the area as a nesting and resting spot on migrating flights.
Ideal Growing Conditions

Fertile soils, lush forests, clean air, spring waters, and a crisp climate make this an ideal mountain valley for producing wild rice.
